Yes We Can Youth Clinics is one of the most successful clinics for young people aged 13 to 25 with mental health issues, addictions and behavioural problems.
To continue our success and realise our growth ambitions, we are looking for a Youth Coach / Group Worker.
Wicked Wednesday
Your shift starts on Wednesday this week. Today, you'll guide your fellow through an out of the box activity designed to help them face challenges and grow stronger for the future. Whether it’s motorcrossing to tackle fears or horse riding as a new sport, you’ll work together at an external location. Your role today is to help the fellow discover their strengths and how to use them to move forward.
In the evening, there is an interesting video lecture on how addiction works in the brain. In closing, you have a chat with the fellows about the day. After that, the fellows go to bed and then come together with your colleagues.
Target Thursday
As a Youth Coach, you plan and organize the entire day's schedule for the fellows along with your team. Your day starts at 6:30 AM, when you and your colleagues have a cup of coffee before energetically waking up the fellows. Today, you are organizing a morning workout using the high ropes course in the forest. One fellow does not want to participate, so you have a motivating and engaging conversation with them, approaching it like a sibling would.
As a Coach, you also organize and lead the sports activities. Your activities are tailored to the group's needs. You adapt to the group dynamics and tie a relevant theme to the activity. Today, you are working on boxing techniques in the dojo, technical training in the CrossFit area, and teamwork exercises on the multi- court. After that, the fellows have some room time before dinner. Then, you join them at the table to have a meal together.
Fit Friday
Your alarm goes off at 06.30h and you get ready for this enjoyable day. Today, as a coach, you’ll join the fellow and their parents for a bonding activity, like bowling or visiting the zoo. The goal is to strengthen your connection and engage in a different way. It's a fun, relaxed day focused on building a stronger relationship and making important steps in the recovery process together.
In the evening, as a Coach, you organize an evening lecture centered around the theme of "connection." After such an exciting and eventful day, fellows can go to their rooms from 10:00 PM onward. You take notes on observations you have made of individual fellows and the group as a whole.
Sweet Saturday
Because it is Saturday, fellows and coaches get an extra hour of sleep. Today, you are going cave mountain biking togheter at a beautiful location. After an adventurous day, you all enjoy dinner together. Your shift ends at around 8:00 PM. You take some time to evaluate the shift with your team, then head home, tired but very satisfied.
Within the team, a lot of fun time is spent together, and many personal stories are shared. We have a positive work atmosphere and provide each other with direct and constructive feedback. Our mindset is "everything for the fellows" and "everything for each other." We regularly organize activities outside of working hours and support each other in both work-related and personal challenges.
*This is a sample working week.*
4 Days On, 4 Days Off Shifts
We believe it is crucial to be there for our fellows at all times. Therefore, Youth Coaches work in 4-day on/4-day off shifts. You work for 4 days while staying in the clinic, followed by 4 days off. The start of your shift changes by one day each week. For example, in the first week, you might work from Tuesday to Friday, the next week from Wednesday to Saturday, and in the third week, from Thursday to Sunday, and so on. We ask you to be present in the clinic the evening before your shift starts for a team handover.
Free Time
During your 4-day shifts, you will have a designated free period, which could be in the morning, afternoon, or evening. During this free time, one coach may choose to catch up on sleep, while another may opt for a workout in the gym with colleagues. Additionally, you may socialize in the coach house on the clinic grounds, where there are opportunities to play darts or table football. You also have one evening free during your shift when you have the option to go home.
Salary
The salary is a gross all-inclusive amount, including allowances.
a reliable, sporty, and social person. You are a good listener. With your creativity, you can set up out-of-the-box activities and take the lead in them. Preferably, you have experience in public speaking and organizing outdoor activities. Additionally, you are 21 years or older, preferably have a driver's license (B), and have completed a sports education program.
When all else fails, Yes We Can Youth Clinics provides a solution for many teens and young adults, aged 13 to 25, struggling with mental health issues, addictions and behavioural problems. Our approach has proven to be very successful: about 70% of the fellows no longer need specialised care after having completed 10 weeks of residential treatment and a minimum of 10 weeks aftercare. Our success rate is so high because we not only work together with our fellows, but also with their parents. Successful treatment requires a serious effort from both of them. The collaborative approach at Yes We Can Youth Clinics has proven to be a turning point in the lives of thousands of teens and young adults.
